Join us at the Lake House at Lake Carolina for the 9th Annual Oyster Roast!  The Lake House is nestled along the shores of Lake Carolina with an expansive lawn and patio area, beach access and a gorgeous open air building. This venue offers guests a panoramic view of the lake, indoors & out.

Enjoy live musical entertainment from Barefoot N Reckless, delicious food by Billy Mote catering and spectacular views during the 9th Annual Oyster Roast. Invite your friends and join us at Lake Carolina on Saturday, February 16, 2013 to feast on fresh oysters steamed to perfection, finger licking good southern barbeque, and refreshing beverages. Bring a glove and shucking knife to dig into the oyster buckets. Extra knifes and hand towels will be provided by Lake Carolina.

If guests would like to drink alcoholic beverages, they must bring these themselves, so pack your cooler or wine bags!  Lake Carolina Realtor Lara Turner will be providing a free beer to all who attend!

Children’s Charities of the Midlands is a 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to promoting charitable endeavors that are committed to improving the health, welfare and education of South Carolina’s youth. Lake Carolina is proud to support their efforts once again at this event.

Children 3 and under are admitted free.

Lounge chairs and blankets for relaxing in the sunshine are encouraged. Outside coolers are allowed at this event.  Lake Carolina is located at 100 Lake Carolina Boulevard, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Lake Carolina Gives Back
The residents of Lake Carolina go out of their way each year to raise funds in support of Children's Charities of the Midlands.

Lake Carolina Wine and Food Festival Raises $10,000 for Haiti Children
The 10th Annual Lake Carolina Wine & Food Festival raised money for Lexington, SC-based Haiti Children Project, which was founded by Wade McGuinn and his wife, Janet. The Project supports an orphanage that provides a home for 39 displaced children in Jeremie, Haiti. The Project hopes to expand its services to provide a feeding and a school program for hundreds of children in the local village.

Children's Charities Donates $4,000 to Harvest Hope
"The generosity of Lake Carolina residents will go far in providing food, comfort and hope to the families and children in our region who need it most," said Denise Holland, CEO of Harvest Hope Food Bank. "We appreciate their willingness to step in and help when so many are in need." Harvest Hope Food Bank provides for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education.

Children's Charities Presents $4,000 to Abundant Life Equipment Lending Library
A $4,000 donation from Children's Charities of the Midlands to Abundant Life Equipment Lending Library will help Columbia area children receive equipment to recover from devastating illnesses and accidents. Columbia did not have a durable medical equipment library. Abundant Life Equipment Lending Library located at the Village Green, was established in October, 2010 to meet this need.

Operation Military Kids: Babysitter Course

Lake Carolina is proud to work with Operation Military Kids!  We have established an amazing opportunity with our military outreach partnership and are excited to bring our residents and guests more and more joint opportunities.  All Army Reserve or National Guard Youth ages 12-16 are welcome to participate.

Fort Jackson is offering a 2 day course for babysitting certification developed by 4-H/Child and Youth Services.  The course will be held January 12 & 13 from 9am - 3pm at the Ft. Jackson Army Reserve Center at 1525 Marion Avenue, Room 215.  If you have additional questions, please contact Sharon Lone at 864-993-1711.

Polar Bears at Lake Carolina Ready to Brave Chilly Water

January 5, 2013 from 10am – 12pm 

COLUMBIA, SC -  In its ninth year, the Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Lake Carolina aims to raise funds for Children’s Charities of the Midlands, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to promoting charitable endeavors that are committed to improving the health, welfare and education of South Carolina's youth. On Saturday, January 5, 2013, participants will brave the chilly waters at Lake Carolina.  The event takes place from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Lake Carolina’s Sunset Park.

The first splash is scheduled to occur at 10:30 a.m. All participating polar bears must complete a REGISTRATION FORM and be signed in no later than 10:15 a.m. at Lake Carolina's Sunset Park.

Adult polar bears (ages 18+) are asked to make a $10 donation to Children's Charities of the Midlands before taking the plunge. Polar bears younger than 18 are just $5 per participant.

Registration forms can be picked up and dropped off at the Lake Carolina Sales Center - 100 Lake Carolina Boulevard.

Music, prizes, refreshments and other surprises are in store and spectators are welcome to attend.  The Polar Bear Plunge is open to the public, so bring a warm towel and join us on the dock, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10am to celebrate the New Year and help out your local community.
