Lake Carolina celebrates Northeast Farmers Market grand opening with annual Town Center Block Party
May 10, 2010

COLUMBIA, S.C. (May 10, 2010) - Lake Carolina invites everyone to celebrate the grand opening of the Northeast Farmers Market's sixth season at Lake Carolina with an old-fashioned street party on Thurs., May 13 from 5:30 - 9 p.m. This event, which is free and open to the public, features live musical entertainment by the Herringbones, games for all ages and lots more family fun!

"There's no better way to celebrate our grand opening at Lake Carolina than with the annual Block Party," said Alan Lattanzi, Northeast Farmers Market manager. "Traditional events like the Block Party bring families out year after year because everyone enjoys them. I've watched the [Northeast Farmers] market grow over the years and can't wait to start another successful season at Lake Carolina with the Block Party!"

Also participating in the Block Party festivities are the Lake Carolina Town Center merchants. Each merchant is bringing a little extra something to the party such as colored hair extensions at HALO Salon, doggie bandannas at A Dog Eared Corner, beer and brats and Connoisseurs Corner, etc.

"We're proud to be hosting the first-ever Monster Bowl Challenge," said Cameron Dixon, owner of Sprinkles Ice Cream & Sweetery in Lake Carolina's Town Center. "For just $5, participants compete to eat a Monster Bowl full of ice cream the fastest...the winner gets bragging rights and a special prize from our store!"

The Town Center Block Party, which has been a signature Lake Carolina event since 2004, is a free event open to the public held once a year in the month of May. Guests can expect plenty of family-friendly entertainment to include games, dancing, bounce houses, street vendors and more.
